My Sedimentary Lifestyle:
Understanding The Dirt on Soil
One young scientist's research to understand soil and its' chemistry.
About Me
I am currently an undergraduate studying Ecosystem Science and Sustainability at Colorado State University. My main focus of research is soil chemistry. I work in the Natural Resources Ecology Lab on campus for a post doctoral associate and a PhD student, studying Arctic soil.
I am mostly fascinated by soil chemistry and microbial activity that occurs beneath our feet. Soil processes are underestimated, but as the climate continues to change the important is becoming more clear and more research is being conducted. The soil is incredibly important to the functionality of our ecosystem. Ultimately I want to make science my life. I want to understand everything I possibly can about biogeochemistry and for me that stems with continuing my education. After receiving my undergraduate degree I plan to intern in an ecology lab abroad for a few years before applying to a graduate program to receive my PhD. Travel and exploration have proven themselves to be exceptional educators in my life and I believe a research position abroad would optimize my success. My goals are as high as the stars, but my drive and passion cannot be contained; not even by the galaxy. |
